How to protect your trailer against theft

Park your trailer securely
A trailer makes everyday work on construction sites considerably easier. However, when it is not needed for the next journey, the trailer is uncoupled and parked.
According to the saying “opportunity makes the thief”, you should ensure the trailer is not parked in a dark corner. Even if you only need to park overnight, always choose a well-visible area. This also applies when parking your entire vehicle and trailer combination. Bringing your trailer safely into operation
It is not just safe parking of your trailer that is important, 
but also safe subsequent use. If the trailer has been stationary for a long period, please check the coupling for wear and ensure the coupling docks properly.
For added safety, upgrade to the AK 161 or AK 270 coupling heads for braked trailers up to 2,700 kg. The interior safety lever is only activated for secure locking when the trailer’s coupling head is correctly seated on the car’s towbar. This prevents incorrect locking.
Optionally installable push lock
The optionally installable push lock provides effective protection against quick access, whether coupled or uncoupled. In addition, it is strongly recommended that you check your trailer for roadworthiness before use. Also check that the lights are working. Unfortunately, damage is often caused by ‘parking nudges’ or even deliberate vandalism.
